Sunfire Castle Whiteout Survival guide

Sunfire Castle is one of the most important alliance battles in Whiteout Survival because it determines control of the state Presidency. Alliances fight for the central Castle and surrounding Turrets while individual Chiefs earn points through combat, occupation, and casualties.

Winning takes more than sending the strongest possible rally. Turret control, Infantry durability, rally timing, fast reinforcement, troop healing, positioning, and clear alliance roles can all determine whether an alliance keeps control long enough to win.

This Sunfire Castle Whiteout Survival guide explains the current Castle Battle rules, 6-hour duration, 3-hour victory condition, map mechanics, personal points, Soldier’s Commendation, Forced Exile, Minister of Strategy, President rewards, and practical strategies for both strong players and F2P members.

Castle Battle currently lasts 6 hours. An alliance wins immediately by holding Sunfire Castle for 3 consecutive hours. If nobody manages that, the alliance with the longest total occupation time when the battle ends wins.

What Is Sunfire Castle in Whiteout Survival?

Sunfire Castle is the central state leadership objective in Whiteout Survival.

During Castle Battle, alliances compete to occupy the Castle and its surrounding strategic structures.

The winning alliance controls the Presidency and gains access to important leadership functions such as:

  • Appointing the President
  • Minister positions
  • President Skills
  • President grants
  • State-wide bonuses
  • Temporary leadership rewards

For individual players, Castle Battle is also an opportunity to earn personal point rewards and ranking rewards.

How Long Is Castle Battle in Whiteout Survival?

The current Castle Battle duration is 6 hours.

Older Sunfire Castle guides may still list a five-hour battle and a 2.5-hour occupation requirement. Those figures are outdated under the current Castle Battle rules.

Scroll sideways to view the full table.

Castle Battle Rule Current Requirement
Battle Duration 6 hours
Immediate Victory Hold Sunfire Castle for 3 consecutive hours
If Nobody Holds for 3 Hours Alliance with the longest total Castle occupation wins
Normal Frequency Approximately once every two weeks

How Do You Win Sunfire Castle?

There are two possible victory paths.

1. Hold the Castle for 3 Consecutive Hours

If one alliance controls Sunfire Castle continuously for three hours, the battle ends and that alliance wins.

This is the strongest possible outcome because the alliance does not need to wait for the full six-hour timer.

2. Have the Longest Total Occupation Time

If no alliance manages a continuous three-hour hold, Castle Battle continues until the six-hour timer expires.

The winner is then the alliance with the longest accumulated occupation time.

This makes every successful capture important, even if your alliance is removed later.

Strategy implication: Do not give up simply because your alliance cannot maintain a three-hour uninterrupted hold. Repeated successful occupation can still win the battle through total control time.

Sunfire Castle Map Explained

The Sunfire Castle battlefield can be understood as several strategic layers rather than one building.

Scroll sideways to view the full table.

Map Area Purpose Strategy
Sunfire Castle Main occupation objective Control it to build victory occupation time
Turrets Attack opposing Castle defenders Control them to reduce pressure on your Castle holder
Ruin / Relic Area Terrain surrounding the Castle Troops passing through can suffer significantly reduced March Speed
Alert Zone Red combat area around Sunfire Castle Provides close positioning but disables Shield protection

Map positioning matters because shorter travel distance allows an alliance to reinforce, rally, and recover control faster.

However, being close to Sunfire Castle also exposes your City to more danger.

Sunfire Castle Alert Zone Rules

A storm clears Cities from the Alert Zone before Castle Battle begins.

Current rules use the following preparation sequence:

  • 2 hours before Castle Battle: Cities located inside the Alert Zone are randomly teleported away.
  • After the storm: Chiefs can begin positioning near the Castle again.
  • Approximately 1 hour before battle: players can move into the Alert Zone for battle positioning.

Teleporting into the Alert Zone disables an active Shield.

You cannot rely on Shield protection while positioned inside the combat zone.

Positioning tip: Moving into the Alert Zone gives faster access to Castle and Turret rallies, but it also puts your City directly into the battle. Do not teleport there unless you are prepared for PvP.

How to Play Castle Battle in Whiteout Survival

A well-organized alliance normally divides members into different roles.

Scroll sideways to view the full table.

Role Main Job
Main Rally Leaders Lead attacks against Sunfire Castle and enemy Turrets
Rally Joiners Fill rallies with appropriate Heroes and high-tier troops
Castle Reinforcers Rapidly refill the Castle after capture or losses
Turret Teams Capture or deny enemy Turret control
Healing / Support Players Maintain troop availability through fast batch healing and Alliance Help
Leadership Coordinate targets, rally timing, reinforcements, and occupation strategy

If you are new to organized alliance combat, review our Whiteout Survival Alliance guide for general teamwork and coordination principles.

Why Turret Control Is So Important

Turrets are not secondary objectives that can be ignored.

If a Turret is controlled by a different alliance from the alliance holding Sunfire Castle, the Turret attacks the Castle defenders.

As Turret occupation continues, its attack frequency increases.

This creates several problems for the Castle holder:

  • Infantry is worn down faster.
  • Defensive rallies become easier to break.
  • Reinforcement demand increases.
  • Healing costs rise.
  • Enemy rallies need less damage to finish the Castle garrison.

Whenever practical, the alliance holding Sunfire Castle should also deny enemy Turret control.

Castle Battle Troop Strategy

There is no single troop ratio that is automatically best for every Sunfire Castle battle.

Your ideal composition depends on:

  • Rally leader Heroes
  • Hero Generation
  • Enemy formation
  • Troop tier
  • Chief Gear and Charms
  • Hero Gear
  • Whether the march is attacking or defending
  • Available rally joiner Expedition skills

However, one principle is particularly important for defending Sunfire Castle:

You need enough Infantry.

Infantry forms the frontline and absorbs pressure from enemy rallies and Turret attacks. If the Castle garrison loses its Infantry too quickly, Lancers and Marksmen become exposed.

Do Not Fill the Castle With Damage Troops Only

A composition with too little Infantry can collapse despite strong Chief stats.

Therefore, reinforcement leaders should monitor the troop composition already inside the Castle rather than simply sending their strongest preset march.

Double Rally Strategy

A coordinated double rally is one of the most useful ways to attack a stronger Castle defender.

The objective is to make two rallies arrive almost together.

  1. Choose two strong rally leaders.
  2. Prepare both rallies.
  3. Launch the first rally so it arrives slightly earlier.
  4. Time the second rally to land immediately afterward.
  5. Use the first attack to weaken the defender’s frontline.
  6. Use the second rally before the opponent has time to fully reinforce.

The first rally does not necessarily need to capture the Castle.

Its job can simply be to remove enough Infantry and weaken the defensive formation so the second rally finishes the fight.

Why Double Rallies Work

The defender has very little time between well-timed impacts.

If the rallies are several seconds or minutes apart, however, the Castle holder may receive reinforcements and recover much of the advantage you created.

Reinforce Immediately After Capturing Sunfire Castle

Winning the rally does not mean the Castle is secure.

After capturing it:

  1. Announce the capture immediately.
  2. Send prepared reinforcement marches.
  3. Correct the troop composition if Infantry is low.
  4. Monitor incoming enemy rallies.
  5. Coordinate Turret teams simultaneously.

The first moments after a capture are often the easiest time for an enemy alliance to take the Castle back.

How Sunfire Castle Points Work

There are three main personal point sources during Castle Battle.

Scroll sideways to view the full table.

Point Source How You Earn It
Carnage / Kill Points Defeat enemy troops while fighting for Sunfire Castle or Turrets
Occupation Points Occupy Sunfire Castle or a Turret. Higher troop Power produces more occupation points
Casualty Points Gain points from your troops becoming severely injured or lost during Castle and Turret combat

This means you do not need to be the strongest rally leader to score.

Reinforcing occupied buildings and participating in active Castle/Turret fighting can still generate meaningful personal points.

Best Castle Battle Point Strategy

Do not chase personal points without considering the cost.

A good scoring approach is:

  1. Set a personal point target before battle.
  2. Join useful rallies and reinforcements.
  3. Earn casualty points naturally while supporting alliance objectives.
  4. Heal in manageable batches.
  5. Stop aggressive point farming once resource and Speedup costs exceed the reward value.

Some players repeatedly attack an enemy-held Turret to generate casualties and personal points. This can work, but it can also consume a large amount of healing resources.

Batch Healing Strategy

Batch healing means healing injured troops in smaller groups rather than starting one very large healing timer.

This allows active alliance members to use Alliance Help repeatedly and reduce each healing cycle.

The ideal batch size depends on how many alliance members are online.

If many members are actively pressing Help, you can use larger batches. If activity is low, smaller batches may prevent long healing timers.

Important: Batch healing reduces time, not the underlying resource cost. Castle Battle point farming can still consume large amounts of Meat, Wood, Coal, Iron, and healing Speedups.

Sunfire Castle Rewards

Castle Battle includes several different reward systems.

  • Personal point milestone rewards
  • Personal ranking rewards
  • Castle Battle participation rewards
  • President grants
  • President rewards
  • Minister bonuses

Exact personal milestones and reward quantities can vary with state progression and account progression, so use the current in-game reward page for exact numbers.

Soldier’s Commendation Whiteout Survival

Soldier’s Commendation is one of the grants that the President can distribute after Sunfire Castle.

Only the President can award these grants.

Scroll sideways to view the full table.

Grant President Supreme President
General’s Commendation 1 2
Officer’s Commendation 5 10
Soldier’s Commendation 30 50

Because the number of grants is limited, Presidents usually need a clear distribution policy.

States may prioritize different contributions, including:

  • Rally leadership
  • Castle reinforcement
  • Turret teams
  • Healing and sustained combat
  • Battlefield coordination
  • State leadership work

There is no universal community rule requiring a President to give a Soldier’s Commendation to a specific player type.

What Happens After Winning Sunfire Castle?

Whiteout Survival President and Supreme President

The leader of the winning alliance can appoint an alliance member as President.

The appointment window lasts 10 hours.

If no appointment is made during that period, the winning Alliance Leader becomes President by default.

There is one additional rule: if the previous President remains a member of the winning alliance, that President can be automatically re-elected.

President and Supreme President Bonuses

Scroll sideways to view the full table.

Position Troop Bonus
President +5% Attack, Defense, Lethality, and Health
Supreme President +7.5% Attack, Defense, Lethality, and Health

Supreme Presidency is connected to State of Power and provides stronger leadership privileges than a normal state Presidency.

Minister Positions After Sunfire Castle

Whiteout Survival Sunfire Castle Ministers

The Presidency includes six positive Minister positions.

Scroll sideways to view the full table.

Minister Normal President Bonus Supreme President Version
Vice President +10% Construction, Research and Training Speed +15%
Minister of Interior +80% Resource Production Speed +120%
Minister of Health +100% Healing Speed, +5,000 Infirmary Capacity +150% Healing Speed, +7,500 Capacity
Minister of Defense +10% Troop Lethality +15%
Minister of Strategy +5% Troop Attack, +2,500 Deployment Capacity +8% Troop Attack, +3,750 Deployment Capacity
Minister of Education +50% Training Speed, +200 Training Capacity +75% Training Speed, +300 Capacity

Minister of Strategy Whiteout Survival

Minister of Strategy is the main offensive Minister position for Troop Attack and Deployment Capacity.

Under a normal President, it provides:

  • Troop Attack +5%
  • Deployment Capacity +2,500

Under a Supreme President, the boosted version provides:

  • Troop Attack +8%
  • Deployment Capacity +3,750

This makes Minister of Strategy particularly useful before combat where your march can benefit from both stronger Attack and additional deployed troops.

However, the position is temporary. Coordinate appointment timing with state leadership rather than assuming the buff will remain active indefinitely.

Presidential Skills

Whiteout Survival President Skills

The President can spend Authority on state-wide and situational skills.

Major state-wide skills include:

  • Medical Advancement
  • Mercantilism
  • Research Advancement
  • Mobilize
  • Supreme President’s Will for Supreme Presidents

The currently documented cost for these major state-wide skills is 45,000 Authority.

What Is Forced Exile in Whiteout Survival?

Forced Exile is one of the President’s special situational skills.

It sits alongside Ceasefire and State Research in the special-skill group.

The currently documented Authority cost is:

Forced Exile: 27,000 Authority

Official public descriptions categorize these special abilities as tools that can directly affect, restrict, or expel opponents in specific situations, particularly around state conflict.

However, exact target eligibility and live restrictions can change by game mode. Check the current Forced Exile tooltip before spending Authority rather than relying on an old screenshot or guide for its precise targeting rules.

How Does the President Get Authority?

Authority is generated through activity by Chiefs across the state.

Important sources include:

  • Claiming Daily Mission Chests
  • Gathering resources
  • Presidential Authority-related actions

This makes President Skills a state-wide resource system rather than something generated only by the President’s personal activity.

Sunfire Castle During State of Power

Sunfire Castle also becomes a major objective during State of Power.

Current State of Power rules use a six-hour Castle fighting period inside the larger cross-state Battle Phase.

Cross-state Presidency outcomes depend on both Preparation and Battle results, so normal Castle Battle leadership rules should not automatically be applied to every SvS outcome.

In particular, State of Power can create a Supreme President, which provides stronger personal, Minister, grant, and cross-state privileges.

What Happens After a State Merger?

State Merger resets the existing Presidency structure.

After a merger:

  • The previous President position becomes invalid.
  • Vice President and Ministers become invalid.
  • The Sunfire Castle Hall of Fame is cleared.
  • A new Castle Battle is held on the first Saturday following the merger.

The result of that battle determines the President of the newly merged state.

Best Castle Battle Strategy for F2P Players

You do not need to be a top rally leader to contribute.

F2P players should focus on efficient support roles.

  1. Follow R4/R5 battle calls.
  2. Join the correct rallies.
  3. Send the requested troop composition.
  4. Reinforce Castle or Turrets when ordered.
  5. Keep your Infirmary under control.
  6. Use batch healing while Alliance Help is active.
  7. Avoid random solo attacks that do not support the battle plan.
  8. Set a personal point and resource limit.

A coordinated F2P player filling the correct rally can provide more strategic value than a stronger player sending the wrong troops to the wrong objective.

Best Strategy for Strong Rally Leaders

Strong players should prioritize alliance victory rather than personal point farming.

Before battle:

  • Coordinate offensive and defensive Hero setups.
  • Identify primary and backup rally leaders.
  • Assign double-rally combinations.
  • Prepare Turret teams.
  • Plan immediate Castle reinforcement after capture.
  • Coordinate temporary combat Minister positions when available.

During battle, communicate the exact rally launch and arrival time rather than simply saying a rally has started.

Sunfire Castle is one of the clearest events for seeing the difference between account progression levels because Hero development, Chief Gear, Charms, troop tier, research, Pets, and rally capacity all affect battlefield performance. Players comparing established progression can also review a wos account for sale to compare accounts across these systems.

Best Sunfire Castle Tips

1. Prepare Before the Alert Zone Opens

Set rally leaders, reinforcement teams, and target calls before members begin teleporting around Sunfire Castle.

2. Do Not Ignore Turrets

Enemy Turret control creates constant pressure on the Castle garrison and can make a stronger defender much easier to remove.

3. Keep Enough Infantry in the Castle

Monitor the actual garrison composition instead of blindly sending preset marches.

4. Time Double Rallies Closely

The value of a double rally comes from giving the defender almost no time to refill between attacks.

5. Reinforce Before the Enemy Counter-Rally Arrives

Prepare reinforcement marches before your attack lands so the newly captured Castle is not left with a weakened rally.

6. Use Occupation Time Strategically

Even short successful holds matter if nobody achieves the full three-hour consecutive victory condition.

7. Control Healing Costs

Castle Battle can consume huge amounts of resources. Decide beforehand how much you are willing to spend for personal points.

8. Use Minister Buffs at the Right Time

Minister of Strategy supports combat, Minister of Health supports healing, and Vice President can help Construction, Research, and Training outside the immediate battle.

Common Sunfire Castle Mistakes

Using the Old 5-Hour Rule

Current Castle Battle rules use a six-hour battle and a three-hour consecutive occupation victory condition.

Ignoring Total Occupation Time

If nobody reaches three uninterrupted hours, cumulative occupation decides the winner.

Ignoring Turrets

Enemy-controlled Turrets can continually weaken the Castle defenders.

Sending Too Little Infantry

A damage-heavy reinforcement can make the Castle formation weaker if the garrison is already short on frontline troops.

Solo Attacking Without a Purpose

Random attacks can create casualties and points, but they rarely help capture a well-defended Castle.

Teleporting Into the Alert Zone While Expecting a Shield

Shield protection is disabled when you move into the Castle Alert Zone.

Healing Without a Resource Limit

Batch healing can be fast, but repeated combat can consume resources much faster than the point rewards justify.

Treating Commendations as Automatic Rewards

Soldier’s, Officer’s, and General’s Commendations are limited President grants. They are not automatically awarded to every participant.

FAQ

What is Sunfire Castle in Whiteout Survival?

Sunfire Castle is the main state Castle Battle objective. Alliances compete for occupation control, and the winner gains control of the Presidency and related state leadership systems.

How long is Castle Battle in Whiteout Survival?

The current Castle Battle lasts 6 hours. An alliance wins early if it holds Sunfire Castle continuously for three hours.

How do you win Sunfire Castle?

Hold Sunfire Castle continuously for three hours. If no alliance manages that within six hours, the alliance with the longest total occupation time wins.

How do you get Sunfire Castle points?

Personal points come from defeating enemy troops in Castle or Turret combat, occupying those buildings with troop Power, and taking casualties during those battles.

What is Soldier’s Commendation?

Soldier’s Commendation is a limited grant distributed by the President. A normal President currently has 30 Soldier’s Commendations, while a Supreme President has 50.

What does Minister of Strategy do?

A normal Minister of Strategy receives +5% Troop Attack and +2,500 Deployment Capacity. The Supreme President version increases those bonuses to +8% Attack and +3,750 Deployment Capacity.

What is Forced Exile in Whiteout Survival?

Forced Exile is a special situational President Skill. Its currently documented cost is 27,000 Authority. Check the live skill tooltip for current targeting and activation restrictions.

What do Turrets do in Sunfire Castle?

A Turret attacks the Castle defenders when it is controlled by an opposing alliance. Longer occupation increases its attack frequency, making Turret control an important part of Castle defense.

Conclusion

Sunfire Castle is ultimately an occupation and coordination battle, not simply a contest between the two strongest Chiefs in the state.

Under the current rules, Castle Battle lasts six hours. Holding Sunfire Castle continuously for three hours produces an immediate victory, while longest total occupation time decides the winner if nobody reaches that threshold.

The strongest alliances coordinate Castle and Turret control together, maintain enough Infantry in defensive garrisons, use tightly timed rallies against strong defenders, and reinforce immediately after every successful capture.

Individual players should also understand the personal point system. Kills, occupation troop Power, and casualties all contribute, but aggressive point farming can become expensive. Set a resource limit and use batch healing only while it remains worthwhile.

Finally, Castle Battle remains important even after the fighting ends. Presidency determines grants, Minister positions, President Skills, and state-wide leadership. Understanding systems such as Soldier’s Commendation, Minister of Strategy, and Forced Exile makes the event much easier to understand beyond the battlefield itself.
