Centurion Talent Tree & Gathering Build in Rise of Kingdoms

by | Sep 1, 2026

Rise of Kingdoms Centurion Gathering Guide & TalentsCenturion is an Advanced gathering commander in Rise of Kingdoms. His value comes from being cheap to develop while providing bonuses to Gathering Speed, troop load, and troop capacity, making him especially practical for new and free-to-play accounts.

He should not be built for open-field combat. Although Centurion has Integration, Gathering, and Attack talent trees, his combat skills are too weak to justify taking talent points away from his economic role.

Build Centurion as a primary gatherer, take the Gathering tree toward Superior Tools, and aim for level 37 as the practical stopping point. Army Management is his most important gathering skill, while Courageous Fighter adds troop capacity. Do not push him toward combat talents just because he has an Attack specialty.

Is Centurion Good in Rise of Kingdoms?

Yes, but for a specific job. Centurion is one of the easiest gathering commanders to develop early because his Advanced rarity keeps his XP and sculpture requirements much lower than higher-rarity alternatives.

That matters during early progression, when you want several functional gathering marches but also need to save most of your experience and commander-development resources for PvP, barbarians, rallies, and other combat content.

Centurion’s Main Strengths

  • Advanced rarity makes him inexpensive to level.
  • Army Management increases both Gathering Speed and troop load.
  • Courageous Fighter increases troop capacity.
  • His gathering bonus works across resource types rather than specializing in only one.
  • He can reach the important Gathering talents with much less XP than higher-rarity commanders.
  • He remains useful as an extra gathering primary or secondary after stronger gatherers are unlocked.

Centurion’s Main Weaknesses

  • Very poor open-field combat performance.
  • No commander skill specializing in Food, Wood, Stone, or Gold.
  • His active skill has little relevance to gathering.
  • More developed accounts have stronger gatherers with larger economic bonuses.
  • Additional combat investment does not solve the weaknesses of his low-rarity battle kit.

Best Centurion Talent Tree for Gathering

Centurion Gathering Guide & Talents Tree

The best Centurion talent build is a dedicated Gathering build. When Centurion leads the march as primary commander, his talents apply to the march. A secondary commander’s skills can still work, but that secondary commander’s talent tree does not.

This makes level 37 Centurion valuable early: he can provide the important Gathering talents without consuming the amount of XP required to develop an Epic or Legendary commander to the same level.

Centurion Talent Priority

Build toward the core Gathering talents rather than spending points in Attack simply because that tree is available.

  1. Take the useful Gathering Mastery talents for the resources you commonly collect.
  2. Progress toward The More the Better.
  3. Continue through the Gathering tree toward Superior Tools.
  4. Max Superior Tools once Centurion reaches the required development point.
  5. Use extra points on Gathering utility such as Siege march speed if you continue leveling him.

Important Gathering Talents

Talent Maximum Effect Why It Matters
Gathering Mastery Up to 30% Gathering Speed for its specific resource Speeds up Food, Wood, Stone, or Gold gathering depending on the selected talent.
The More the Better 6% additional resources after gathering is completed Improves the amount returned after successfully completing a gathering trip.
Armed Convoy 15% troop Defense while gathering Provides limited protection on a resource point but does not increase Gathering Speed.
Superior Tools 25% Gathering Speed for all resources The most important final talent for a dedicated gathering primary.
Modified Axle 30% Siege Unit March Speed Reduces travel time when using Siege troops for gathering.

The More the Better should not be described as a bonus for using a larger army. Its value comes from the additional resources received when gathering is completed. Likewise, Armed Convoy is a defensive talent rather than an economic speed bonus.

Does Centurion Need Level 60?

No. Level 37 is the important gathering breakpoint because it provides enough talent points to complete the core route to Superior Tools.

Going higher can add minor utility, especially Siege march speed, but pushing Centurion all the way to level 60 is usually poor account prioritization. Combat commanders and unfinished gathering primaries generally make better use of additional XP.

Do not judge a gathering commander by the percentage of the talent tree you can fill. Once Centurion has the economic talents that actually improve your farming routine, further levels have sharply diminishing value compared with developing another useful commander.

Centurion Skills and Upgrade Priority

Centurion has four skills. Only two directly improve gathering, which is why his role is so straightforward.

Centurion Gathering Guide & Talents Bloody Battle

Bloody Battle

Bloody Battle is Centurion’s active skill. It deals direct damage to one target but contributes nothing to Gathering Speed, troop load, or resource yield.

Direct Damage Factor: 50 / 60 / 70 / 80 / 100

Centurion Gathering Guide & Talents Exciment

Excitement

Excitement increases the Defense of troops led by Centurion.

Defense Bonus: 1% / 1.5% / 2% / 2.5% / 3%

The bonus is small and should not encourage you to fight with a gathering march. If an enemy threatens Centurion on a resource node, retreating remains the safer option.

Centurion Gathering Guide & Talents Army Management

Army Management

Army Management is Centurion’s most important economic skill. It increases Gathering Speed and troop load at the same time.

  • Gathering Speed Bonus: 2% / 4% / 6% / 8% / 10%
  • Load Bonus: 2% / 4% / 6% / 8% / 10%

Gathering Speed shortens the time spent on a resource point, while extra load helps the march carry a larger amount before returning.

Centurion Gathering Guide & Talents Courageous Fighter

Courageous Fighter

Courageous Fighter increases maximum troop capacity.

Troop Capacity Bonus: 1% / 2% / 3% / 4% / 5%

More troop capacity does not directly increase Gathering Speed. Its economic value comes from allowing Centurion to lead more units, which can increase the total load available to the march.

Best Centurion Skill Priority

From a gathering perspective, the skills matter in this order:

  1. Army Management
  2. Courageous Fighter
  3. Excitement
  4. Bloody Battle

That does not mean you can always choose a skill independently every time you spend sculptures. Commander skill development depends on which skill slots are unlocked and the game’s skill-control system.

Fortunately, Centurion is only an Advanced commander, so there is little reason to chase an awkward partial build indefinitely. The clean long-term target is 5-5-5-5. Use Centurion sculptures and appropriate Advanced commander resources rather than treating him like an expensive premium investment.

Best Centurion Commander Pairings

Centurion works with almost any commander that improves Gathering Speed, troop load, or a specific resource. If Centurion has the stronger Gathering talent tree, use him as primary and put the resource specialist behind him.

Scroll sideways to view the full table.

Pairing Best Use Reason
Centurion + Constance Wood, Food, or Stone Constance has a larger Wood bonus plus smaller Food and Stone bonuses and extra troop load.
Centurion + Gaius Marius Food Gaius specializes in Food while also improving Wood, Stone, and troop load.
Centurion + Sarka Flexible gathering Sarka increases Gathering Speed for all resource types and also increases load.
Centurion + Joan of Arc General gathering Joan’s gathering skill increases both Gathering Speed and troop load for any resource.
Centurion + Seondeok Gold Seondeok has her largest Gathering Speed bonus on Gold while still improving other resources.

At maximum relevant skill levels, Constance provides up to 20% Wood Gathering Speed, Gaius Marius provides up to 20% Food Gathering Speed, Sarka provides up to 18% Gathering Speed for all resources, Joan of Arc provides up to 25% general Gathering Speed, and Seondeok provides up to 30% Gold Gathering Speed.

Do not automatically place two developed gathering commanders into one march if doing so leaves another march slot unused. In many situations, two separate gathering marches produce more total value than concentrating two strong gatherers on one tile.

How to Unlock Centurion

Centurion is available through Silver Chests in the Tavern. Silver Chests can provide Advanced commanders and Advanced commander sculptures, and Centurion-specific sculptures are among their available rewards.

Keep opening the free Silver Chests you receive and use Silver Keys as they become available. Because Centurion is an Advanced commander, there is generally no need to force his development at the expense of higher-priority commanders.

How to Use Centurion for Gathering

A correct talent tree is only part of an efficient gathering routine. Resource choice, troop load, travel time, Alliance territory, and how consistently you keep marches working can matter just as much.

Use Siege Units for Load

Siege units are the standard choice for gathering because of their high troop load. You do not need to send your best infantry, cavalry, or archers to sit on a resource point.

Use enough troops to carry the amount available on the node. Sending a much larger march than required does not make the node gather faster unless another mechanic is actually increasing Gathering Speed.

Gather Inside Alliance Territory

Normal resource points owned inside your Alliance territory provide a 25% Gathering Speed bonus to Alliance members.

When comparable resource points are available, this makes an owned node inside your territory more attractive than an equivalent unowned node outside it. Gathering there also contributes additional resources to the Alliance Storehouse.

Match the Secondary Commander to the Resource

Centurion himself is a general gatherer. His Army Management bonus applies regardless of whether you are collecting Food, Wood, Stone, or Gold.

That flexibility lets you choose his secondary commander around your current bottleneck. For example, use Gaius Marius when Food is the priority, Constance for Wood, or Seondeok when Gold is the resource you want to accelerate.

Consider March Time, Not Just Node Level

Higher-level resource points contain more resources, which is useful when you want a march to remain busy for a long period. However, a distant node can lose much of that advantage to travel time.

During active play, nearby nodes can be more convenient because you can turn marches around quickly. Before going offline, larger nodes or Alliance Resource Centers are often more practical because you want marches working for longer without supervision.

For real gathering efficiency, compare the whole trip rather than only the number shown on the resource node. Travel time, Alliance-territory bonuses, troop load, and how quickly you can send the march back out all affect your resources gained over a full day.

Use Gathering Boosts When They Produce More Value

Gathering Speed boosts are most valuable when several marches can benefit from them for a meaningful period.

Good times to use them include long gathering sessions, preparation for expensive research or construction, resource-focused events, and periods when you know you can keep all available marches working.

Keep Centurion Out of Combat

Do not use Centurion for city attacks, rallies, open-field fighting, or other serious combat. Bloody Battle and Excitement are not strong enough to turn him into a competitive battle commander.

If an enemy moves toward his gathering tile, recall the march when possible. A gathering build should be judged by economic output, not by whether it can trade blows with a properly developed PvP commander.

Is Centurion Worth Upgrading?

Centurion is worth developing on a new account because the investment needed to make him a functional Gathering primary is small compared with higher-rarity commanders.

Scroll sideways to view the full table.

Account Stage Recommendation
New account Strong candidate for an early level 37 Gathering primary.
Free-to-play account Worth keeping as a cheap additional gatherer while combat resources go elsewhere.
Mid-game account Useful when you need every available gathering march or as a secondary commander.
Developed account Usually lower priority than stronger gatherers, but still usable as a backup economic commander.

For F2P players in particular, Centurion’s low development cost is more important than his ceiling. Getting several inexpensive gatherers working is generally better than pouring scarce early resources into one high-rarity economic commander.

If you are considering skipping early progression entirely on a separate profile, an established Rise of Kingdoms account for sale is an optional alternative. For players building normally from a new city, however, Centurion remains a simple and inexpensive early gatherer.

Common Centurion Mistakes

  • Building the Attack tree: extra combat talents do not turn Centurion into a competitive PvP commander.
  • Pushing level 60 too early: level 37 already provides the important Gathering breakpoint.
  • Misreading The More the Better: it adds resources when gathering is completed; it is not a larger-army Gathering Speed talent.
  • Expecting troop capacity to increase Gathering Speed: Courageous Fighter helps march size and potential load, not gathering rate directly.
  • Ignoring Alliance territory: the 25% territory Gathering Speed bonus can be larger than many commander bonuses.
  • Pairing two good gatherers while leaving another march idle: spreading them across separate marches can produce more total resources.

FAQs

What is the best Centurion talent build?

Use the Gathering talent tree and work toward Superior Tools. Gathering Mastery, The More the Better, and Superior Tools provide much more economic value than investing deeply in Centurion’s Attack tree.

What level should Centurion be for gathering?

Level 37 is the standard practical target because it gives a Gathering primary enough talent points to complete the important route to Superior Tools. Level 60 is unnecessary for normal gathering use.

What is Centurion’s best skill?

Army Management is his most useful gathering skill because it increases both Gathering Speed and troop load, reaching 10% for each at level 5. Courageous Fighter is second because it raises troop capacity.

Who should I pair with Centurion?

Use a secondary commander based on your target resource. Constance works especially well for Wood, Gaius Marius for Food, Seondeok for Gold, while Sarka and Joan of Arc provide flexible bonuses that work across multiple resource types.

What civilization is best for Centurion?

Do not choose your civilization solely around Centurion. Japan provides a general 5% resource Gathering Speed bonus and therefore has the most direct all-resource synergy. France provides a 10% Wood Gathering Speed bonus rather than a universal gathering bonus, so it is only specifically better when gathering Wood.

Can Centurion be used in PvP?

Technically he can enter combat, but it is not a good use of him. His damage and defensive bonuses are too small to compete with properly developed combat commanders. Keep him focused on resource gathering.

Conclusion

Centurion is a low-cost gathering commander who is most valuable during early and F2P progression. Take his Gathering tree to Superior Tools, target level 37, develop Army Management, use Siege troops for load, and match his secondary commander to the resource you need.
