Rise of Kingdoms: Scout Villages & Caves for Fast Growth

Rise of Kingdoms Scout Villages & Caves for Fast Growth

Tribal Villages and Mysterious Caves are some of the best free progression opportunities available when starting a new kingdom in Rise of Kingdoms. Clearing fog with your Scouts reveals these locations, and claiming them can provide resources, troops, economic technology, speedups, gems, Kingdom Maps, and other early-game items.

Keep your Scouts working whenever possible. Upgrade the Scout Camp early, send Scouts in different directions, and use the Explore map view plus your Scouting Report to clean up locations you have discovered but not yet claimed.

What Are Tribal Villages and Mysterious Caves?

Both locations appear as you uncover fog on the kingdom map, but they work differently.

Tribal Villages can be claimed once discovered. You do not need to send a Scout back to the village before collecting its reward. Typical rewards include food or wood, Tier 1 troops, short speedups, Kingdom Maps, and eligible low-level economic technology.

Mysterious Caves must be investigated by a Scout. Caves have Low, Medium, and High treasure levels, with higher-level caves offering better potential treasure. Your Scout is not at risk while investigating a cave.

Tribal Village and Mysterious Cave Rewards

The exact item from an individual location varies, so scouting should be treated as a source of many smaller progression gains rather than one guaranteed reward.

Location How It Works Possible Rewards
Tribal Village Discover the village and claim its gift Food, wood, Tier 1 troops, low-level economic technology, speedups, Kingdom Maps, and other early-game items
Mysterious Cave Send a Scout to investigate after discovering it Resources, gems, speedups, VIP points, keys, Action Point recovery items, commander progression items, Kingdom Maps, and other treasure

Economic Technology From Tribal Villages

One of the most useful village rewards for a new account is free economic technology. A village can only provide technology your account is currently eligible to receive, so Academy progression and prerequisite research still matter.

If you are actively clearing the map during the opening days of a kingdom, claim your discovered Tribal Villages regularly. Free economic technology can save research time, but you should not leave the Academy idle indefinitely while waiting for a particular technology to appear.

Mysterious Cave Treasure Levels

Mysterious Caves appear with three treasure qualities:

  • Low: basic cave treasure.
  • Medium: improved potential rewards compared with Low caves.
  • High: the strongest cave treasure tier.

High and Medium caves are worth prioritizing when several discovered caves are waiting, but there is little reason to ignore Low caves entirely. They still provide free items for the time spent sending a Scout.

How to Scout Faster in Rise of Kingdoms

1. Upgrade the Scout Camp Early

The Scout Camp improves Scout movement speed, exploration range, and the number of Scouts you can deploy. You begin with one Scout, unlock a second Scout at Scout Camp level 5, and unlock the third at level 11.

For a developing account, reaching the two-Scout breakpoint is particularly useful because you can split exploration in opposite directions instead of uncovering the kingdom through a single route.

2. Send Scouts in Different Directions

Avoid sending every Scout through the same section of the map. Divide the unexplored territory between them so each Scout spends more time uncovering new fog and less time traveling across terrain another Scout has already revealed.

Scouts can also receive new orders while outside your city, so you do not always need to wait for them to return before redirecting them toward another unexplored area or Mysterious Cave.

3. Use Explore View

  1. Zoom out until you can see a large portion of the kingdom.
  2. Switch the map filter from the normal Alliance view to Explore.
  3. Scan for unexplored areas and discovered locations that still need attention.
  4. Work through one section of the map systematically instead of jumping randomly between distant areas.

This makes it easier to spot gaps in your exploration and reduces the chance of repeatedly searching areas you already completed.

4. Check the Scouting Report

New discoveries are recorded in your Scouting Report. Use it to jump back to Tribal Villages, Mysterious Caves, passes, and other points of interest you uncovered while your attention was elsewhere.

After claiming a Tribal Village, the scouting interface can also move you toward the next unclaimed village, which makes clearing a backlog considerably faster than searching the entire map manually.

5. Scout Long Routes Before Going Offline

If you are about to log off, send Scouts toward distant unexplored fog instead of leaving them idle in your city. Long travel routes are less noticeable when you are not actively playing.

How Kingdom Maps Work

A Kingdom Map item clears the fog from a random 10×10 area of the kingdom map. Because the location is random, it is better viewed as a free exploration boost than as a tool for revealing one exact location you want to inspect.

Use Kingdom Maps as you obtain them while substantial fog remains. Your Scouts can then concentrate on the unexplored gaps that remain between automatically revealed areas.

Are Villages and Caves Important for Jumper Accounts?

Yes. Scouting is especially valuable during jumper preparation because the rewards add to the resources, troops, technology, speedups, and items you are accumulating before entering the target kingdom.

However, do not assume that moving to another kingdom gives you a fresh second set of rewards. Previously claimed Tribal Villages and completed Mysterious Caves should not be expected to reset after the move. Clear as much as practical during preparation, but do not jeopardize your beginner immigration eligibility simply because a few sections of fog remain.

For a jumper account, prioritize continuous Scout activity rather than perfection. Missing the move to your intended kingdom is far more damaging than leaving a handful of villages or caves unexplored.

Players who would rather skip building a fresh account from the beginning can also consider a Rise of Kingdoms account for sale as an optional progression path. For F2P players and anyone who prefers building their own account, scouting remains one of the easiest sources of free early-game value.

Common Scouting Mistakes

  • Leaving Scouts idle: Early-game fog clearing is time-limited by Scout travel, so unused Scouts slow your overall progress.
  • Ignoring the Scout Camp: Scout Camp levels 5 and 11 are especially important because they increase your available Scouts.
  • Sending every Scout along the same route: Spread them across different sections of the kingdom.
  • Discovering caves without investigating them: Finding a Mysterious Cave does not automatically give its treasure; a Scout must investigate it.
  • Forgetting discovered villages: Check the Scouting Report and collect village gifts instead of leaving them unclaimed.
  • Expecting jumper rewards to reset: Build your plan around the rewards you can collect during preparation, not a second identical round after moving.

FAQs

How many Scouts can you have in Rise of Kingdoms?

You start with one Scout. Scout Camp level 5 increases the limit to two Scouts, and Scout Camp level 11 increases it to three.

Should I prioritize Tribal Villages or Mysterious Caves?

Clear both. Tribal Villages are especially useful for early resources, troops, and eligible economic technology, while Mysterious Caves provide treasure with a wider variety of possible items. If several caves are waiting, investigate higher treasure levels first.

Can Scouts be attacked inside a Mysterious Cave?

No. Investigating a Mysterious Cave does not put the Scout at risk, despite the cave’s dangerous-looking presentation.

What are the Mysterious Cave levels?

Mysterious Caves have Low, Medium, and High treasure levels. Higher-quality caves provide better potential treasure than lower-quality caves.

How much fog does a Kingdom Map clear?

A Kingdom Map clears a random 10×10 section of fog. It does not let you choose the exact 10×10 area that will be revealed.

Do Tribal Villages and Mysterious Caves reset after a jumper account moves?

You should not expect previously claimed village or cave rewards to reset after moving. Collect as much as practical during jumper preparation while keeping your immigration requirements and timing as the higher priority.

Conclusion

Tribal Villages and Mysterious Caves are worth clearing because they turn otherwise idle Scout time into free early-game progression. Upgrade the Scout Camp, keep every available Scout moving, use Explore view and the Scouting Report, and claim discoveries consistently rather than leaving the map until later.
